Kajama

Kajama are an electronica duo of sisters Nandi and Nongoma Ndlovu born of traditional South African folk musicians Themba and Bajabulile Ndlovu.
Nongoma & Nandi Ndlovu germinated between Zimbabwe, Switzerland and South Africa. Nandi gained an interest in electronic music in her early teens which enhanced her production skills, while Nongoma was studying music at the National School of the arts and fast forward a decade later and you have Kajama. With Nandi on the production, writing and background vocals and Nongoma on the lead vocals and arrangement, their sonic synergy is uncanny.

Their sound could be described as future soul or Afrofolktronica. With influences which range from Fela Kuti and  Angelique Kidjo to Billie Holiday and  Parliament Funkadelic their sound is often likened to acts like Little Dragon, Coco Rosie and Ibeyi.

Since relocating back to Africa they have been enjoyed performances at some of the countries most prestigious gatherings such as Oppikoppi, Sunday Edition, The Goodluck Bar, Yours Truly, Fete de la Musique and collaborations with artists such as Nothende, Fantasma, Raez, TheCITY, Impande Core, Urban Village to name a few all the while perfecting their own signature aesthetic.

Their debut EP “Polarity Prism” was released in 2017  along with a music video for their single Lunar Moonlight ft Tribal Rebel Ludi” for which the response was nothing short of amazing and resulted in a fruitful year of performances in and out of the country. Kajama are currently working on their next EP as well their solo projects due in 2018.
